Some years after relaunching the Breitling brand, Ernest Schneider brings back the design of the original Navitimer with the "Old Navitimer" ref. 81600 with a hand-wound movement based on the Lemania cal. 1873. Cases are slightly bigger than previous "classic case" models, but the general design of the tapered lugs case and the contrasting 3/6/9 subdials layout are revived; caseback is "snap on."

The Navitimer ref. 81600 (called the "Serge Gainsbourg" by collectors) has hour and minute counters and "running seconds" at 9 in a layout similar to the early Navitimer, with no date display.

Red accents feature on both dial and slide rule, and the slide rule is now "sloped," similar to the Big Case models. The ref. 81600 is the first Navitimer to carry the "Breitling Wings & Anchor" logo.
