PRODUCTION SPAN: 1985-2001

Some years after relaunching the Breitling brand, Ernest Schneider brings back the design of the original Navitimer Cosmonaute with the Cosmonaute 81600 (later examples carry the new reference number A12019, A12020, A12022), powered by a hand-wound movement based on the Lemania cal. 1873. Cases are slightly bigger than previous "classic case" models, but the general design of the tapered lugs case and the contrasting 3/6/9 subdials layout are revived; caseback is "snap on."

The Cosmonaute ref. 81600 has hour and minute counters and "running seconds" at 9 in a layout similar to the early Navitimer, with no date display.

Red accents feature on both dial and slide rule, and the slide rule is now "sloped," similar to the Big Case models. The ref. 81600 is the first Cosmonaute to carry the "Breitling Wings & Anchor" logo.
