PRODUCTION SPAN: 1972-1974

As supply of new Venus cal. 178 has ceased, Breitling introduces a manual-wind successor to the classic Navitimer 806, mounted in a the same classic 40/41mm serrated bezel case. The movement is a newly launched Valjoux cal. R7740, based on the modular design of the cal. 11/12 Chrono-Matic, using the same Dubois Depraz chronograph module.

The Navitimer ref. 7806 has "Big Eyes" hour and minute counters and "running seconds" at 12. For the first time, a date display is integrated at 4:30.

Red accents feature on both dial and slide rule. The logos are "Twin Jet" for Breitling-distributed Navitimer or silverwhite printed AOPA-signed wings. There are two executions of hands: the slim lumed tapered baton of the venerable 806, later replaced by the lumed wide baton hands of the 48mm "Big Case" Navitimer. Unique to this reference is a wider pinted subdial hand for the running seconds at 6.

Caliber: manual wind Valjoux R7740
Case: tapered lugs, ca. 40mm diameter
Bezel: serrated pointed notch bezel, ca. 41mm diameter
Dial: black with silverwhite "Big Eye" subdials, red accents on dial and slide rule
Mk1 hands: lumed tapered baton hands, arrow tip chrono sweep
Mk2 hands: wide lumed baton, red chrono sweep, rabbit ear subdial hands
(some transitions with Mk1 arrow tip chrono sweep)
