PRODUCTION SPAN: 1963

The Wide Bezel Navtimer Cosmonaute Mk3 was assembled with cases manufactured in 1962 and originally housing the "all black" Mk1. A precise quantity of assembled Mk3 is unknown, but it is a rarity.

In late 1963, Breitling introduced a new Navitimer ref. 806 dial design that was also used for Navitimer Cosmonaute ref. 809 from Mk3 onwards: contrasting silverwhite subdials on the black base dial. A new set of slim tapered baton hands replaced the syringe, and the chrono sweep hand became the "arrow tip" that we see still on the Navitimer today. Look closely and you'll notice that even the subdial hands are redesigned. Here, sword hands replace the thin baton hands of the earlier Mk1 and Mk2, the ref. 809 Mk3 combines these with a wider bezel than on other executions, designed to allow the astronauts to easily operate it while wearing space gloves.

Several logo variations were available, including applied wings both in "AOPA" and Breitling-branding, some without "Cosmonaute" on the dials.
