The Story

Made to move between the waves and the waterfront. The Superocean Heritage is no ordinary sea watch—it never was. When Breitling first launched it in 1957, it took a different tack from other dive watches of the era. The Ref. 1004 (a sleek time-only piece) and Ref. 807 (the world’s first dedicated dive chronograph) weren’t just about exploring the underwater world—they were about looking good doing it. The spear-and-arrow hands, anodized rotating bezel, and naturally sleek proportions made it a favorite of stylish adventurers who lived for the sea and the scene. Today, that philosophy is still at the core of the Superocean Heritage. It’s got the soul of the 1950s, but designed for today.  The latest Superocean Heritage builds on everything that made the original distinctive—and sharpens it. The collection introduces the B31 automatic movement, Breitling’s first exclusive three-hand manufacture caliber. A ceramic-inlayed bezel adds exceptional scratch resistance, while integrated mesh-metal or mesh-rubber bracelets fit snugly against the case, secured with folding clasps for a clean, watertight finish. A discreet date window at six o’clock and the original signature hands—arrow for hours, spear for minutes—ensure legibility and balance, above or below the surface.
Superocean Heritage B31 Automatic 44 - UB3112161C1S1

The Superocean Heritage collection pays tribute to two iconic Breitling dive watches launched in 1957: the Ref. 1004, an elegant time-only model, and the Ref. 807, the world's first dedicated diving chronograph. From the outset, these pieces stood apart for their attention to aesthetics alongside functionality—featuring arrow-shaped hour hands, lance-shaped minute hands, and an anodized rotating bezel. Today's Superocean Heritage faithfully reinterprets this legacy with modern manufacture-level precision and materials while retaining the unmistakable spirit of the originals.

The Superocean Heritage B31 Automatic 44 is equipped with the Breitling Manufacture Calibre B31, an in-house mechanical self-winding movement beating at 28,800 vph (vibrations per hour). This is Breitling's first proprietary three-hand manufacture calibre, offering a power reserve of approximately 78 hours and featuring a date display at 6 o'clock in the Superocean collection. The B31 represents a significant milestone in Breitling's watchmaking heritage, as it was conceptualized and designed fully in-house.

The watch features a 44 mm case diameter with a thickness of 12.17 mm, and a lug width of 22.05 mm. This sizing strikes a balance between bold sporting presence on the wrist and refined wearability, consistent with Breitling's philosophy of creating tool watches that are equally at home in professional and social settings.
Explore the Superocean Heritage collection to compare the available case sizes and find the model that best suits your wrist.
