The Story
The Breitling Navitimer B01 Chronograph 41 is a modern interpretation of Breitling's iconic pilot's watch, combining the collection's legendary aviation heritage with a more compact 41 mm case.
It retains the Navitimer's signature circular slide rule bezel, three-register chronograph layout, and highly legible dial while offering a size reminiscent of the 1950s originals, that suits a wide range of wrist sizes and occasions. Powered by the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, an in-house, COSC-certified automatic chronograph movement with approximately 70 hours of power reserve, it delivers exceptional precision and reliability.
The Breitling Navitimer is one of the world's most iconic pilot's watches. Introduced in 1952, it was originally developed for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and quickly became an essential tool for professional aviators. Its distinctive circular slide rule bezel sets it apart from other chronographs and has become one of the collection's defining design features.
The slide rule is a mechanical calculating instrument that allows pilots to perform a variety of flight-related calculations directly on the wrist, including:
Fuel consumption and fuel burn calculations
Average speed and flight time calculations
Distance and rate conversions
Unit conversions (such as nautical miles, statute miles, and kilometers
Basic multiplication and division
While modern aircraft now rely on advanced onboard computers, the slide rule remains a functional tribute to the Navitimer's aviation heritage and a hallmark of Breitling's history of precision instrument making. Today, it continues to distinguish the Navitimer as both a highly recognizable luxury chronograph and a symbol of aviation excellence.
