After receiving a very enthusiastic welcome from Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA) members, Breitling decides to make the Navitimer a "core catalog" model and market it through its worldwide distribution network, assigning and stamping the model reference 806 on the cases.

This small, single-production Navitimer batch is considered a transitional execution, still powered by the Valjoux 72 caliber, but already stamped 806 on its caseback. It features AOPA- and Breitling-branded dials.
