THE ORIGINS LABEL

We’ve spent the last few years reshaping the way we source our precious materials. Watches with Breitling’s Origins label — featuring better gold and better diamonds — are the result. Their artisanal and small-scale gold and lab-grown diamonds are fully traceable to producers who we’ve individually selected for their social and environmental responsibility. The entire supply chain is documented, verified, and shared back with you.

BETTER GOLD

Breitling sources its gold from artisanal and small-scale mines that meet the strict criteria of the Swiss Better Gold Association. The Association establishes traceable supply chains between the source mines and the market in Switzerland, and requires its members to achieve high levels of social and environmental performance. Breitling integrates artisanal and small-scale mined (ASM) gold across all main collection products. For every gram purchased, Breitling makes a contribution that directly supports the communities from which we source. They in turn benefit from infrastructure investments, legal wages, healthy working conditions, the protection of biodiversity and the rehabilitation of the land at the end of mining activities. Click below to read all about what the Swiss Better Gold Association is doing to improve the gold trade.

BETTER DIAMONDS

Breitling is transitioning to lab-grown diamonds for all new main collection products. These gemstones are created by applying gas and extreme heat to a diamond wheel, which crystallizes the carbon and allows the diamonds to grow under controlled conditions. Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to natural diamonds, and knowing their exact origins means we can be sure they are free of any links to conflict, human rights abuses and environmental degradation. What's more, for every carat purchased, Breitling contributes to the Better Diamond Fund that supports diamond-producing communities.
