NAVITIMER STORY (WATCHPRINT, 2022)

The name “Navitimer” signals the merging of two functions: navigation and timing. Launched in 1952 with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), it was the first watch to combine a chronograph with a circular slide rule, giving pilots a wearable analog flight computer. First available only to AOPA members in 1954, it reached the public in 1955. From cockpit essential to cultural icon, the Navitimer has charted an extraordinary course. It flew in space, adapted through decades of change, and became a favorite of aviators, celebrities, and collectors alike—always staying true to its aviation DNA. This second volume in the Watch Stories series follows the Navitimer’s journey across 70 years of technical evolution and stylistic reinvention. Featuring archival imagery and present-day models, it captures the spirit of a watch that’s never stopped moving with the times and through the skies.
